To develop U.S. History, we solicited ideas from historians at all levels of higher education, from community colleges to Ph.D.-granting universities. They told us about their courses, students, challenges, resources, and how a textbook can best meet their and their students’ needs.

The result is an app that covers the breadth of the chronological history of the United States and also provides the necessary depth to ensure the course is manageable for instructors and students alike. U.S. History explores the key forces and major developments that together form the American experience, with particular attention paid to considering issues of race, class, and gender.

The pedagogical choices, chapter arrangements, and learning objective fulfillment were developed and vetted with feedback from educators dedicated to the project. They thoroughly read the material and offered critical and detailed commentary. Reviewer feedback centered around achieving equilibrium between the various political, social, and cultural dynamics that permeate history. The outcome is a balanced approach to U.S. history, considering the people, events, and ideas that have shaped the United States from both the top down (politics, economics, diplomacy) and bottom up (eyewitness accounts, lived experience).

Zur Geschichte der USA zu entwickeln, erbeten wir Ideen von Historikern auf allen Ebenen der Hochschulbildung, von Volkshochschulen zu Ph.D.-Gewährung Universitäten. Sie sagten uns, über ihre Kurse, Studenten Herausforderungen, Ressourcen, und wie ein Lehrbuch am besten erfüllen ihre und ihre Bedürfnisse der Studierenden.

Das Ergebnis ist eine Anwendung, die die Breite der chronologischen Geschichte der Vereinigten Staaten abdeckt und auch die nötige Tiefe überschaubar ist der Kurs sowohl für Dozenten und Studenten zu gewährleisten. Geschichte der USA untersucht die Schlüsselkräfte und wichtige Entwicklungen, die zusammen die amerikanische Erfahrung bilden, mit besonderem Augenmerk auf die Prüfung der Fragen der Rasse, Klasse bezahlt und Geschlecht.

Die pädagogischen Möglichkeiten, Kapitel Arrangements und Lernziel Erfüllung wurden mit Feedback von Pädagogen über das Projekt entwickelt und geprüft. Sie lesen gründlich das Material und bot kritisch und ausführlich kommentiert. Rezensent Feedback zentriert um das Gleichgewicht zwischen den verschiedenen politischen, sozialen erreichen und kulturelle Dynamik, die Geschichte durchdringen. Das Ergebnis ist ein ausgewogener Ansatz der US-Geschichte, wenn man bedenkt, die Menschen, Ereignisse und Ideen, die beide aus den Vereinigten Staaten oben nach unten (Politik, Wirtschaft, Diplomatie) und von unten nach oben geformt haben (Zeugenaussagen, gelebte Erfahrung).
